Android Pay launches in Ukraine, its 15th market, with support for PrivatBank

Android Pay has been around for a few years now, but it's still not available in very many countries. Case in point: it's just made its way to Ukraine, which has become only the 15th country that it's usable in. It's only available at one bank, at least for now: PrivatBank.

November 1st is Android Pay's official Ukraine debut date, but since it's already the 1st there, we're already hearing about it.

Today ARM is announcing some new display technologies which the company alleges can deliver an HDR experience on any screen, while providing increased power savings and performance for applications such as VR.

In all, ARM is announcing three new bits of technology based on the "Komeda" architecture—itself based on the earlier Cetus.

Google fixes bug that prevented Motion Photos from being deleted from Drive when you delete them in Photos

Motion Photos debuted alongside the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL as a direct competitor to Apple's Live Photos. These Motion Photos are saved by default whenever you take a picture, allowing you to catch a glimpse of the background while the photo was being taken. But until a day or two ago, these Motion Photos would remain in your Google Drive library, even if you'd already deleted them through Photos.

A new version of the Google app is making the rounds to users that have opted into the beta channel. This update is a bit tamer than some other recent version bumps. Android 8.1 fixes invisible Do Not Disturb toggle issue from 8.0 Oreo

Believe it or not, Android 8.0 Oreo actually debuted with an invisible Do Not Disturb toggle in the volume popup. If you knew where the toggle was, it still worked, but that was a bit of a stupid mistake for Google to make. The Android 8.1 developer preview fixes this problem and adds a DND toggle that we can actually see.

left: 8.0. right: 8.1.

While you could technically still use the toggle if you knew where it was in 8.0, this was obviously a bug.
