Qualcomm releases details for the Snapdragon 821, the processor likely to power the next Nexuses

Qualcomm's latest generation Snapdragon 821 chipset was announced back in July, but details have remained scarce until now. Today, Qualcomm has shared a lot more information on what we believe will likely be the processor that powers the next generation of Google's flagship phones.

In addition to having CPU speeds of up to 2.4 GHz, we now know that the GPU on the Snapdragon 821 is an Adreno 530 running at 653 MHz, representing a 5% bump over the same chip on the Snapdragon 820.

Press photos for Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact leak ahead of launch

Xperia Blog has gotten its hands on press photos for the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact — two of the products that Sony is widely expected to launch tomorrow at IFA in Berlin. We had already seen images of the the Xperia X Compact earlier this week, but it's the first time we get to view official photos of either device.

The images confirm that Sony's new phones will support USB Type-C, adding to the growing list that are upgrading from microUSB.

When I started writing for Android Police earlier this month, some of you recognized me from when I installed Windows 95 (among other things) on my watch. But outside of me shoving emulators on my watches, I've worked on some cool projects and spent way too much on electronics.

I started trying to learn development when I was around 12, armed with a copy of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 and my iMac G5.

Moto adds its file manager app to the Play Store for easy updates

Motorola was the first major smartphone maker to start putting its stock apps in the Play Store. Before that, OEMs would only update those apps as part of an OTA update. It sounds positively barbaric by today's standards. Motorola isn't done yet, though. Just today it added its stock file manager to the Play Store. You won't see much in the way of improvements this time, but who knows what the future could bring?

Acer announces Iconia Talk S, Liquid Z6, and Liquid Z6 Plus budget smartphones at IFA

Acer has launched three Android smartphones at IFA—the Iconia Talk S, the Liquid Z6, and the Liquid Z6 Plus. All of them are more budget-oriented, but they're quite different from each other.

The Iconia Talk S features a massive 7-inch IPS display, but has a very low 72op resolution. It's equipped with an unnamed quad-core processor, 4G LTE and dual-SIM capabilities, a 13MP rear camera, and a microSD slot with support for up to 128GB (officially).
