Google is updating its policies for apps with Wear 1.0 support, multi-APK distribution to replace bundled APKs

Android Wear has come a long way in the last three years, but it was the launch of Wear 2.0 that brought the most significant changes. With most of the Wear devices updated to 2.0, Google is adjusting the way it markets apps that target small(er) screens and implementing a new distribution model that removes some of the compromises associated with supporting older Wear devices.

A post to the Android Developers Blog details plans to change the "Enhanced for Android Wear" badge requirements.

Nest send out invitations to "big announcement" on September 20

Nest Labs, the home automation company behind the well-known smart thermostat, smoke detector, and other smart products, has just sent out press invitations to a "big announcement" on September 20 in San Francisco. This comes just after having announced the Thermostat E earlier today, which boasts a lower price tag and a cleaner design.

It isn't clear what Nest plans to announce at their press conference — the invitation mentions popcorn and a couch, so maybe some sort of a TV remote or perhaps even a smart microwave?

Ricoh's new Theta V puts 360-degree 4K video recording in a tiny package

360-degree cameras are all the rage these days, and Ricoh's new Theta V has an impressive set of features that might just make it worth your attention. Not only is it able to capture content in 4K, but it can also record "surround-sound" audio, each of which can add an extra layer of realism and immersion to your content. The product was just announced ahead of IFA, and although it's currently set for a September release, it's already up for pre-order.

Star Wars: Jedi Challenges will have you fighting lightsaber duels from your living room

Either as part of the ongoing IFA festivities or in prep for Force Friday II, Lenovo has just announced a product together with Disney. Called Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, it's an augmented reality Star Wars game that will have you flapping about a lightsaber replica as you fight villains like Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. Let's hope there's a wrist strap.

It is a tiny bit confusing, as Lenovo and Disney aren't making much of a distinction between the game and the hardware included.

AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint will sell the LG V30 this Fall

The LG V30 definitely seems to be living up to the hype. LG finally revealed the phone officially at IFA earlier today (we have a hands-on that you should check out!), and now several carriers in the US have announced they will sell the device.

At the time of writing, T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint have stated they will offer the device when it's released later this year. On T-Mobile, the V30 will support the 600MHz spectrum that T-Mobile purchased earlier this year, so you'll be getting the best possible LTE coverage.

YouTube TV launches in 12 new markets, including San Diego and Indianapolis

There's some good news if you've been trying to drop cable and stream all your content directly from the internet: YouTube TV is now expanding its availability to 12 more cities in the United States, and it might just have come to the one where you live. This isn't exactly unexpected — after all, we've known that 17 more regions would be popping up "in the coming weeks," and here they are.
