Sony will further "defocus" mobile business in US, as well as India, Brazil, and China

According to investor presentation slides obtained by Xperia Blog, Sony has told investors in Japan at a recent event that the company's mobile business will be further "defocused" in the United States, as well as in India, China, and Brazil.

Sony's Xperia X line of handsets, announced at MWC in February, have been met with critical apathy, if not outright disdain in some cases. Sony announced the X series would be launching in America back in May, and the handsets have not yet begun shipping.

LG gives execs the boot and restructures mobile division following disappointing G5 sales

The LG G5 was announced earlier this year with an ecosystem of "friends" that were aimed at boosting profits in its troubled mobile division. After initially solid shipments of the G5, things have turned sour fast. LG has announced a major shakeup in its mobile division that includes firing some staff and the formation of a "program management office" to oversee product development.

It's not actually unusual for an OEM to relieve itself of some executives following a poorly received product.

Big Join update makes capturing screencasts of your devices a breeze, can even automate uploads to YouTube

Join is a pretty cool app. It can do a variety of things, from sending texts to transferring files across your variety of different devices. Developer joaomgcd has added another feature to its extensive arsenal, making it easy to record an Android phone or tablet's screen from another device.

The way this works is pretty simple: on a device with Join on it (this can be another Android, the Windows 10 app, or the Chrome extension), tap on one of the Android devices to see the list of actions, and select 'Toggle Screen Capture.' This will then record the screen of said phone or tablet.

AT&T Ticket Twosdays is live: Buy one movie ticket and get the second one free

Not to let T-Mobile steal Tuesdays away from it, AT&T is starting its own rewards program for AT&T customers because it's "thankful for you being [its] customer." There are several aspects to AT&T Thanks, including device and accessory perks, exclusive access to concert pre-sale tickets, and Ticket Twosdays. This cleverly named reward gives eligible customers a free movie ticket with the purchase of another one.

There are plenty of limitations to the deal: one per week per postpaid customer, only 2D movies at AMC Theatres and Regal Entertainment Group, and limited supply. But it's nice to have if you're an AT&T customer.

Neon, Argon, and Mercury are reportedly BlackBerry's 3 upcoming Android smartphones

A couple of months ago, we heard a rumor that Blackberry was working on 2 new midrange Android smartphones, one with a physical keyboard and one without, slated for release this year. Now Evan Blass (@evleaks) is following up with more details and specs, a third smartphone, and possible release dates.

The first phone, scheduled for July-August, is Neon. It has a 1080p 5.2" display, Snapdragon 617, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 2610mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, a 13MP camera on the back and 8MP on the front.

Many language specific Google keyboards get Nougat support, theme support, and more

The English alphabet only includes 26 different letters, but for many other languages that are not descendant from Latin, the number of valid characters is much larger. It turns out that this can make creating a keyboard that works well in those languages a bit difficult — imagine having a keyboard with hundreds or thousands of keys and you begin to get the picture. That's why Google has developed dedicated keyboard apps with alternative input methods specifically designed for languages such as Pinyin or Cantonese to make is easier for many (or maybe even most) users around the world to type in their native tongue.
